Health experts may have scrapped limits on egg consumption but many people aren’t taking advantage of the nutritional benefits of eggs, because they struggle to cook even the most basic egg recipes.

A recent survey found that a large percentage of us find it challenging to cook simple meals using eggs and frequently make mistakes. More than a third of those questioned said they found poaching eggs difficult and boiling an egg was a strain for more than a quarter of. Cooking an omelette was a trial for 24% of people and frying for 23%.

So ahead of this year’s British Egg Week, celebrity chef Paul Merrett is helping less confident chefs by sharing inspirational recipes online and in supermarkets next to the egg displays.

Paul Merrett said: “No-one wants to get egg on their face, but cooking with eggs is actually really simple. There is no need to be afraid of using eggs - avoid them and you’re missing out on their unique versatility and the wealth of meal options they can offer.”
